After recently losing my old 14" male Jaguar Cichlid. Ive decided to try something new with my Bass.
I will buy a 2" youngster and grow it on with my Cichla growouts.

There are 2 Cichlids im looking at: Dovii and Umbee

Are there any success storys of these mixing with Cichla, or am I just looking for trouble?

Jags have bad reputations but I never had any problems!

Cheers Jay

Good question, and I'm also interested if anyone else has had success with that.

Cichla are Cichlids - but yes, as long as the Cichla cannot fit the other fish in its mouth. And a lot of them will :)

I know Cichla are Cichlids but you know what I mean! I know any fish are ok with Cichla as long as they cannot eat them but Umbee and Dovii are both known for being aggressive this is why im asking!

You might have luck with umbee if you grow it out with them but dovii r out if question they r SUPER aggressive and they r known to kill tank mates after nowhere one day I would look into another jaguar or a calmer species if cichlid like blood parrots, frontosas, and I'll think if mire options but those 2 r gigot aggressive

I think umbees are just as agressive but, I currently have 2 umbees that Im growing out with a broko, who just happens to be the meanest sob in there. The umbees have only been in there for a week but so far so good.

Oh yea, but on the other hand I tried putting a growout azul with my growout haitiensis temporarily......:( and needless to say he destroyed the poor little azul.

Someone kept a group of huge blood parrots with a group of cichlas

Saw a custom 1000g with bass, dovii, vieja, crenicichla and a large butti. If the tank is large enough, there usually are no issues.

No that is way not big enough ou need a 600g for a full grown dovii let alone bass vieja creni's and a large butti the butti and dovii prolly killed everything and then each other
