Just because something is illegal doesn't mean it is inherently wrong... many laws exist without morality or ethics in mind. Saying something is bad because it is illegal is kind of a scary mentality, because when the populace loses the ability to think critical of the state, bad things happen.

I used to smoke a lot, but I got sick of it... I did it too much mind you, but I didn't like the feeling of being in a fog for the latter part of the day. It makes situations that would normally be boring fun; whereas when I am not high I would normally think "I'm bored! I gotta do something productive and interesting!"

There is a time and a place for everything. I don't do any of that stuff anymore, but I must say it had positives and negatives... the positives are more prevalent when you practice moderation.

Im not saying that if something is illegal that it is necessarily bad. Im saying people do some of these things, like smoke pot, knowing its illegal so they shouldnt complain about the repurcussions if they are caught. It is inherent to the democratic process that, if you are going to be a responsible participant that you must obey the resultant laws, regardless of wether or not you agree with them.

Pot doesnt make people stupid, some people are just stupid by themselves and if they smoke pot then thats the reason why they did something dumb. Think of how many people just grow there own for personal use because it helps them get through there day, and nooone knows that they smoke because theres so many people that think its such a bad hardcore drug. ahhh some people...

As odd as it may seem, When I drink, I don't drive. I won't ride with someone who has been drinking. Last night, at a friends I had a few (or so).. I felt fine, only 2 blocks from home. It was 2am not a car in sight I certainly could have made it, right? It was too cold to walk the 2 blocks, especially 'a bit toasted'.

At this time I would like to thank my wife for the ride home.

My choice, my life. If I had driven, then my choice could have impacted many others, even in two blocks. Perhaps I could have made it, or I may have driven through the side of my neighbors house. No distance is safe.

I have to tell you, my wife wasn't mad at all, and if she were, it would still be better than the alternative.

You ask why they have bars, cause people WANT them, not so cops can write tickets. Trust me the cost to the town is higher than the fines, fees & taxes collected... (thats even if they don't need a public defender)

Nothing is stopping a person from getting a cab or another sort of ride.

By the thinking above, we should ban everything that may have an illegal use.. Drink at the bar. Don't drink and drive.

Also don't drive while doing your makeup, reading the paper, I could go on...

-- The soap box is now vacant..

Perhaps this thread should be moved to the lounge ....

First off u suggesting that you would of walked home that day if it wasnt cold out scares me, thats illegal, walking in public while intoxicated is a crime!

anyways cities, towns etc make money off of the alcohol served at the bars, and also the money made there (Taxes), alcohol is not only the number 1 cause of death for traffic accidents, but also one of the biggest money makers for the government....... which is why they serve it everywhere, and the fact that the government allows people to go to bars and bye drinks, puts my family's life at risk every time they are out driving doing what they have to do to live life such as work, grocery shopping etc etc etc...... so they should imo make alcohol illegal to serve anywhere period, u dont need to drink it anyways.......... your just getting high off of a drug, one that impairs u and does not do anything beneficial as far as function in society goes.......

LOL. Yeah, ban alcohol. That will work. Ever heard of prohibition? Your thought process is scary.

How did this thread turn into a discussion about drugs/alcohol anyway?
