In Asia, most fish that grow over 1ft are considered a food fish. I also hear a few large clown loaches wind up on dinner plates from time to time.

In their native range, the Clown Loach is an important food fish, which is why there are size limits on exported fish.

All of Chitala & Notopetus are food fish in SE Asia. but they can breeding, except Chitala lopis....

At my local Asian market, there are lots of fish that we keep as pets. I've seen Clown Knifefish, barbs, I think I even saw a loach. I'll have to check it out again.

I always see frozen Snakeheads sold as food in Asian markets. CKs as well. When I went to Thailand to visit relatives, my cousin cooked up a Giant Gourami. Very tastey. I've had grilled Clarias Catfish and Mantis Shrimp. Stuff you would find in the pet store. I've seen live Flowerhorns and Goldfish in Asian markets being sold as food as well.

wow, hehe it's true in asia there's a more "exotic" side to food, but i never imagined gold fish and flowerhorns as food. i teased my mom if my 10 inch flowerhorn die could we cook it for fish soup and she said "she cant take it coz its a family pet" but then again when she was a teenager she experienced eating, "fruit bats, farm frogs, wild boar, deer, snake, big lizards, big beetle larvae, rabbit, crocodile.. i guess she had enough of the exotic side eh? hahahaha

Have you guys ever had fishballs? Well they are made up from Clown knifes. I think its more Thailand tho.
