Clay Pot

Are there any precautions to take before putting a clay pot in the aquatium? i have seen tons of ppl with them so i know it can be done.

I have 2 - 24 inch pots and a 16 inch pot in my 180 gallon. All i did was soak them overnight in cold water.....they have been in there for about 9 months with no problems

I have clay pots in my tank and I just washed them first and put them in. I read in other forums that it might be a good idea to boil them first if they were used as planters since chemicals such as pesticide and fertilizers could have leached in them.

I use them in two of my tanks, and my clown loaches love them . I would stay away from used pots and also stay away from painted pots.

I bought mine new and just gave them a quick rinse. never had a problem with them.

Would my bullhead appreciate one of these as a home? He loves to hide under rocks during the day.

clay pots are good stuff. As close to 'ornamental' as I'm gonna get.
