well i have seen alot of pics people using the clay pots from walmart. my question is that i see people putting more holes in them. i have tryed some methods on one of my pots but it dont come out the tright way. so i need to know how u guys go it. pictures would ge great also

Best is a diamond tipped holesaw. You can get them real cheap on ebay or harbor freight salvage.Keep em wet while drilling

I use a Rotozip rotary tool. It comes with a masonry bit. This makes quick work of clay pots! I would recommend putting some masking tape on both back and front sides of the pot. The pots tend to flake and crumble a little around the working edges.

dremel w/ diamond bit and spray bottle......you can cut glass that way also if you take your time not to heat the glass up from the friction. just take your time. and use a diamond bit w/ a spray bottle makes it like a wet saw for tile!!!

hammer...

I have 9 pots in water right now and a hammer was all I needed.
Not even, sometimes. Just hold it out and let go. It'll break....

And for those of you who don't like clay pots in the tank and think it looks trashy and poor, you can eat me....

i think he wants to put nice holes in the pots not just have a bunch of broken terra cotta in his tank......i do think it looks good if done right....eat me haha

a dremel is by far the best method i have found.. use a tile cutting bit.. works like a champ.. a bit of water helps keep the dust down...

cam, well said.

All I've ever used was a hammer, I even attached plants through some of mine, through the pre-manufactured hole in the bottom. but again, they're pot pieces for caves, none of that fancy hole stuff.
