i want to cut holes in some clay pots but i dont know how i would go about doing this, the pot would have a hole entrance on the rim so when its turned upside down its makes a nice cave for my fish that like to hide, such as my loaches, catfish and afew others.

also do clay pots have any bio- filteration value?

careful, depends on the ctfish but bigger ones will eat the pot someday.
i know a guy's clown knife who bit a chunk off a clay pot and he had to perform surgery.

seen a story somewhere on the net about some guy who had clay pots in his tank and he had a large tsn x rtc hybrid that he notice a bruise on it's belly. A few days later a piece of pot was sticking through it's stomach. He did surgury to remove the piece and last word his cat made a full recovery and was eating just fine. So be careful, but I think this is not extremely common to happen. If any pots get broken just ensure that you remove all fragments.

i hav no idea on bio-filterations for your tank?
depends on how big dA tanks is and how many pots ya got.

I have used pottery shards as biomedia in homemade filters, I got a lot of broken pots free, As just pots sitting in the tank they are just another porous surface like wood. If you want nice smooth edges to the holes you cut use a Dremel with a fine tooth or masons blade then "break" the edges of the cut with sand paper.
