Clear water battle

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have you tried the AquaClear powerheads with the prefilter? They're pretty nice. The Eheim AquaBall powerhead & prefilter is a really nice unit, too! Both will help with your circulation & pick up floating debris as well as any filter. Otherwise, try a polishing cloth or floss on top of your AC110 media.

Sometimes you can get lucky!. I recently printed out a old fosters & smith page that I searched for here on MFK. The AC110 was $47.99. I called up to Petsmart and asked if they would price match and they said yes!! I picked up 2 AC110's and headed to the register and showed the lady the foster & smith paper I printed out and she said no when can't do this, it's taking more than half off. I told her I talked to manager 10 minutes ago so she called him. The manager walked up to the register and the cashier starts to complain on how can we do this and the manager screamed at her to shut up and just do it. That was 2 weeks ago. Since then I have bought 2 more aquaclear 110's for $47.99 each and 5 bags of Cichlid Bio-Gold for $8.99 using the price match from Fosters & Smith!!!! Now I just go to petsmart at lunchtime when the teenage girl is there and she doesn't even call the manager she just turns the key and gives me a pricematch on anything I get!!!
:ROFL: Im gonna try this please PM me a link or email me the page . I have a knack for getting my way at the register and I don't have to be an ass either I just take up their time until they give in to a line of customers. :grinno:

I'm willing to try the 47.99 price match but the $33 may be way to far of a stretch.

Usually price matching to petsmarts own web site saves a ton in store but not that case with the ACs.

Cor... your thread has seemed to have gotten off on a tangent...

Are you satisified with the responses to your concern thus far?

I take it you are at work and the tank is at home and you'll put some of the suggestions into use this evening...

LOL I would never post from work....

Ya, its pretty obvious I am unfiltered and won't have clear water unless I take on the problem head first. I believe it will only get worse as my fish grow. I may need to step up to a twice a week water change with alternate filter cleaning.

Now next I need to figure out what to do. Cheaper the better for filters but I will need to add something.

FYI guys Petsmarts are SUPPOSE to only match their website or competitor's around them, not other websites. I work there, and could care less if other stores do this. If they don't want to obey their own corporations policy then their to blame and keep on getting them AC's cheap guys. Just don't expect to hassle me when I happen to be on the register.:D

well if your talking filters lol thats a whole new ball game my friend.. peopl ehave there own opions ultimately its up to you. for instant theres a ton of Aquaclear fans.... and a ton of (like me) Emperor fans... the choice is yours ultimately

With having one AC already I think it would only make sense to have another and not working about getting two types of media.

If I go canister...well I suppose that would be another option to figure out but would also probably cost the most.

Magnum 350 is a great canister and since your specs are already good the magnum will polish your water very well and I believe its only 100 bucks..
