With having one AC already I think it would only make sense to have another and not working about getting two types of media.

If I go canister...well I suppose that would be another option to figure out but would also probably cost the most.

notice that i said...... FOR EXAMPLE...... i wasnt just talking about aquaclears and marinelands.. i was talking about any filter... if i woulda sat there and named every filter known to mankind i woulda just posted my comment now.... :screwy:

this thread is making me wonder about my own setup. I just completed the set up of a 125 gallon tank and I placed a FLuval FX5 on it. It's the only filtration that I have. It's been set up for a few days and seems to be doing fine. The FX5 is said to be able to properly filter up to 400 gallons. Any suggestions?

Well the Fx5 with media in it does 600-700gph and its overturning your tank about 5 times a hour and 7-8 would be much better.

For mechanical yes. For bio... He will be far more than adequate with the FX5 alone. Id say an upgrade is far from necessary.

Another Question: On that new 125 gallon set up that I just mentioned, I placed 2 large pieces of MOPANI wood, which is dark brown and two-toned in color. I soaked both peices for 3 days and constantly changed water that I soaked the wood whenever it started looking like tea. Now that I have them in the new tank, I've noticed that my water is a little brown and not crystal clear, they way I'm used to it being. My Fluval FX5 should clear it up in a few days. The instruction card that comes with the MOPANI wood says that filtration should resolve the problem. Has anyone had to deal with this issue?
