It took me somewhere in the $1000 range to setup my 120, Fish, lights, tank, test kits, gravel, plants, rock/log formations, canister/undergravel filters, thermometer, heater, stand, and a full glass hood.:WHOA:

Hey xEchOx, where did you get your Tahitian Moon Sand?

I got mine from a lfs. They actually ordered it in for me. Twenty bucks for a twenty pound bag. Little spendy, but I love the way it looks. Just so you know, that stuff is really dirty.

Thanks for the info. When you say dirty, you mean even after rinsing well, it'll still continuously cloud up the tank? Does it raise your ph much?

I rinsed each bag for atleast 10 minutes, and when I put them in the tank, it still made the tank a mess. It did settle after about a day, however.

This picture is about 2-3 hours after letting things settle that same night.

This is the next day.

Overall, I'd say its worth it just because I love the look of the black sand, but it is a little bit of work. :D

I shop the classifieds for tanks in my area a used aquarium is usualy a good deal it's just a glass box let somebody else pay retail for it.I got a 125 for 150$ from the classified adds the tank holds water but a couple scratches no big deal the guy also had a light and 2 used filters they did not last long.I got on the petsmart web page printed out the cupon for the ac500 for 39.99 got 3 of them and a 400 watt theo heater 42.00 and then i got some glass tops for the 125 i think i paid 60$ for them.I am a carpenter so i built my own stand out of job site leftovers u can to just raid a dumpster they throw away alot of useable wood a trip to lowes for some hardware nuts and bolts 27.00.So for about 400$ i got a 125 up and running:headbang2 u just got to be a hustler.lol:naughty:

I like the way you think train.

125 gal with oak stand, canopy and light $400
Aquaclear 110 $40
2 heaters $40
Cascade 1200 $95
Air pump $22

Second 125
tank, oak stand and canopy, fluval 404 $200
Parts for Fluval $45
2 giant sponge filters $26
Air pump $22
Biowheel 350 $35
2 heaters $40

Does that help?
I'm assuming you don't care about decorations since they are subjective...

I am in the middle of setting up a 150 right now. I will add up all the costs and post them here as I go. I am guessing I will spend at least $300 on top of the original tank (and glass tops) cost.
