So last night before i went to sleep around 2:30am my fire eel decided to make a quick escape out of this small opening in the back of my tank which i honestly never thought my eel would fit through...

Any way, so after i realized it and managed to get him back into the tank he seems to be okay, but my question is, has any one who's had a fire eel escape from a tank, have it attempt to jump out again after that first experience of being a fish out of water...

Coz i'm just a little worried he may just try and escape again one day when i'm asleep or not home...

lucky. i lost my big guy this summer to him jumping. he climbed into the AC110, knocked the lid off and bailed. :( i miss him. he would only hand feed, very cool fish.

^ post whore lol just kidding ( mods just a joke )

yea when i was doing all this crazy stuff awhile back like when i had a rtc in a 40gal

iv had one just jump out the same way yours did wasnt taking care of the tank wc whise so i see why he jumped

If you are concerned about him jumping out plug up the hole....duct tape generally is a good quick fix. Glad to hear you saved yours in time! About 6 months ago I came in the morning to see my peacock shriveled up on the floor :(

I've had my fire eel "ELMO" for about 6 months now he never has tried to get out. Best bet would be to caver the hole like abarilot said hope mine dosnt escape !

Sorry to hear about every ones loss'... it seems to be that they are true escape artist... but does any one out there have one which has been saved (from falling out the tank) ever had it attempt to jump out a 2nd time? or do they learn from their mistakes pretty quickly!?

cover it up. I wouldn't take the chance with the fish learning anything

Thanks for all the advice... i'll be sure to sort something out so that i don't have to worry about no more surprises...

I lost my tire track this way..would constantly climb into my emperor 400. i plugged every hole, but no matter what he found a way into the emperor =[

guess 1 day he knocked the lid off and found the floor. came home to a stiff 18" tire track </3
