Close Call and Trouble With Hystrix (Recommendations Accepted)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i didnt read the whole thread but at the begening you said you changed the subrastrate before the ray spazzed out. i would isolate the ray and remove the substrate or make it the same as what it was.

it could be just that the ray wasnt used to the new substrate stopped eating spazzed out then owner noticed and started changing things and the ray reacted tot the changes as well.

go back to basicas and give the ray time to settle down.
good luck

Thanks for the feedback.

FYI...she's still kicking. Not eating, but alive. I will try some live black worms either tonight or tomorrow if she's still kicking. She used to go completely nuts for night crawlers and would gobble large ones whole...in fact, I'd never seen a ray as small as her eat large night crawlers whole so easily. She wouldn't eat the chopped crawlers. Let's see if she'll eat the black worms.

The praziwill kill the blackworms of its still in the tank when you add them. This may affect if she eats them or not

Any update?

She's still kicking. She's trying to eat but seems to not be able to like she used to. She tried to eat chopped crawlers but it seemed to be really difficult for her. The prazi did not kill the black worms so I left the worms in there and she seemed to be trying to snack on them when she can. She's a tough cookie and is still fighting.

Thx for all the well wishes and I'll keep you all posted. I'll do a water change tomorrow or Tuesday, re-dose, and try to get her to eat.

Is she still alive?

FYI...she ate four whole night crawlers this morning! Hopefully she puts back on the weight soon. I will keep her isolated until I see some consistency. She looks to be on the mend.

Thanks for everyone's help, concern, and suggestions.
