Changed nothing guys :(

The most recent developments were, in order:

1) Oscar and silver dollars came down with white spot, from what I suspect was the plec I added in.

2) raised temperature, added salt to treat.

3) once white spot looked gone, moved Oscar and dollars out of tank, added GT in. Temperature back down to 24°

4) GT looked to have white spot, added ich medicine as heat and salt looked to have failed.

5) noticed bloom tonight. Feel like bashing my head off the wall

Hello; Salt to treat white spot (ick)? How much salt?

the point of adding salt to treat ICK is it irritates the fish and causes them to form a thicker or more slime coat , best treatment for ICK is heat, 87 to 90 or so for 3 weeks, fish be fine, just hungry and more aggressive per say. heat that high disrupts its life cycle. and they die off.

but I agree with SK question, any pics of this?

Used 1 teaspoon per gallon, as per the sticky thread in disease forum section, which seemed like a lot to me.

hello; OK, not salt. malachite Green and formaldehyde. I used the malacite green some decades ago for ich with mixed results. I no longer use it.

If you do a search on this forum I believe you will find suggested treatments that do not use chemicals.
Please double check, but I think a common treatment is to raise the water temp to around 90 F for several days. The adult parasites and eggs are difficult to kill, but the notion is the larvae that hatch will die. I think this takes some time as the parasites and eggs do not die right away. If some other member does not add to or correct my statements, the info will be in past threads. I also seem to recall suggestions that the tank be kept dark.

Good luck

MG the answer, this should never be put into the tank but used as a bath, you killed off your BB with it.

tank recover, as an FYI MG is hard on the fish, this is only to be used as a last resort. and only as a bath, not in tank. it treats bacterial infection among other things, will not cure ick.

Hello; OK again. So you did add salt and the malacite/ formalhadhyde? May I suggest some water changes to dilute the salt and other and to try the 90 degree heat treatment.

Also if you do not already have them, add some bubblers. They help keep enough oxygen in the water. Warm water holds less O2.

Good luck
