Currently Both eyes look like there’s an X threw the iris. Most of my group has this. Usually their eyes are crisp and dark. Never seen it before this week. What is this?

Veins? Cloudy eyes? Eye structure? Light too bright? Something else?

You’ll have to zoom in to see the one on the del.

Noticed this a few days ago. What is it from? How do I fix it? Thanks in advance.

Might just be the lighting. As long as ur water is pristine and the bichirs are acting normal then would monitor. It doesn’t look like anything to be concerned about....atleast on the surface.

I will rule out cloudy eye. Most cases of cloudy eye would cover the whole area of the eye. Also most cases are from poor water quality which is absolutely not the issue in your care.

Thank you both for the prompt response. You guys are the freaking best. :) Just want to make sure the polys are okay.

Nitrates were a little high last week(20~ppm) two days after a water change. And I had 0.25 ppm ammonia o_O however, I checked everything this week- 3 days after a cleaning the filter- and everything was back to normal. Still monitoring, yet doing 75% WC every 4-5 days. Could temperature fluctuations cause eye problems? My phython connects to an outside hose faucet (not heated).

Not temps but pH can cause eye issues as well.

It actually looks like a reflection from something off the lighting. Like kno4te kno4te stated wouldn't worry about it. The look great imo.
