CLOUDY WATER

Maintain the water changes you are doing, and see in a week or two, I sometimes used Purigen from seachem to help clear it up, that stuff works wonders!

honestly adding all those fish put a big load on tank and most likely cause it to go through a mini cycle, all the foggy water sounds like a bacteria bloom, should go away in a couple of days and clear up.

Its a bacteria bloom caused by the new addition of so much biomass. Test for nitrites and ammonia, you will see that the tank has had to recycle itself. Fifty percent water changes with gravel vacuuming will help tremendously. Honest.

ok so should i just do my water change tom then and do ;like 40% and it shoulc be fine in a few days? when i do my wc i gravel vac too....should i rinse the filters too and change carbon i have done that for about 5 weeks

normally the bacteria bloom is a good sign that the cycle is almost done, i'd just do my normal water change and make sure if you do rince the media do it in tank water, personally i only use carbon after i use meds in the tank but it won't hurt anything if you want to change it.

well i heard that carbon helps keep the tank clear i have a rio 305 canister filter filled with carbon and a rio 2100 powerhead sponge filter with an extra sponge and a rio 600 pwhsf all that is on a tank that is 6'L x 18"D x 20"T thanks

canister full of carbon?, just my opinion so if anyone wants to chime in go for it, not really fam. with the rio line of canisters, but personally i would rather have the canister full of bio bedia and maybe some filter floss for large waste, if you want tp use carbon thats personal pref, but i'd be more conserned with bio-material more.

Carbon is functional in a tank for about 3 days, after that is just little black rocks.

Carbon removes unwanted chemicals such as medications that have run their course. There is not benefit to using it all the time.

However if you have a canister full of carbon, and not much bio media.... your bacteria is living on the carbon and tossing the carbon will force your tank to recycle yet again!

agree, if you change the carbon to another biomedia, do it a little at a time every time you clean the canister, maybe about change 25% to 35% at a time.

so ,y LFS is telling me bs then...cuz i have just about the same setup he does just he has twice as much as i do on his african show tank? im not saying eveyone on here is wrong just curious on what the best solution i should do. thanks
