cloudy water

Hadn't heard of polyfill before, just did a quick search...

I could replace the fine polishing pad at the top section of my xp3 with this polyfill stuff yeah? Seems interesting...and MUCH cheaper than buying a new polishing pad every month or two. I think I might stop and get another box of ceramic rings and some of this poly-fill and redo my filter tonight. My water isn't REALLY cloudy...but its not crystal either. Granted, I am still sort of cycling (in the nitrite spike now, ammonia has dropped to zero and I'm still waiting on nitrates, they seem stuck around 5ppm)

(I've got to stop hijacking threads:screwy:)

Yep, polyfill is usually sold as stuffed animal and pillow stuffing. It works amazingly well for polishing water though. I've been using it for my 55 for over a year now with nothing but good results.

I have a 75 gallon with an emperor 400 and also have a whisper 40 on it until I can get another emp. I have a powerhead for water circulation, have tried changing the filter cartridge, but that didn't help(about 3 days ago)

My vote, UV sterilizer. It'll prevent any disease breakouts as well as getting rid of what looks to be a bacterial bloom. Usually I'm not a fan of killing off aquarium bacteria if it isn't actively attacking the fish, but in the water column is not where useful bacteria is going to spend most of its time.
