The sad thing is that there most likly worth more this size alive as pets , than dead and as food. Did you try it?
Yeah I think they are a food fish, it's weird seeing any fish common in the hobby sold as food

Hahah...they also eat Geophagus, Black Belts, Dovii, Large Clown loaches, etc in their home regions...I don't those fishermen know they are eating a fortune 
Wonder what they taste like,
they have become become an invasive species here in 1 of our lakes, the goverment is trying to find ways to get rid of them , as they are eating the native species.
