Really? Those two on swamp people (Guist brothers) really seem to love to eat aligator gar!

Well as this thread shows, there is always some living creature out there that someone will eat.

My dad was in the Air Force, spent a lot of time in places like the philippines. He has pretty much eaten all the same things that they do. He would have no problem eating my pet fish, if they are big enough. My Jag mix might be on his menu some time if I don't watch out! At nearly 15 inches, "Jag" would probably be a good size snack.

Just to be sure. We are talking about the parrot fish/uhu. I couldn't imagine eating a clown knife. :irked:

Haha...Yeah, I thought we were talking about CKs. CKs are one of my favorite fish. They were the ones that got me interested in fish keeping. It may sound weird to people, but I would eat it too. I hear they make fish balls out of CKs, which I have eaten and enjoy, so it would be an experience to eat the fish as a fish instead of processed.

EWWW! Funny what people will eat and what people won't eat. I won't eat a tilapia. Dirty nasty fish to me with a huge stigma in hawaii (they live in the nastyest most polluted waters, ever seen the dirtiest jobs episode where they used tilapia to eat human feces?). But in the mainland they are the rage! I hear tilapia are actually good tasting, but forget that!!! Keep it away from me! In fact the only freshwater fish I have eaten was rainbow trout. I guess im spoiled when I can go fish/dive for an hour and bring home some pretty good eating reef fish. Come to think about it I hear mainland people don't like to eat mullet and jacks. Where in hawaii mullet is some good stuff and you guys call jacks... we call them papio. Papio are one of the most common fish targeted in nearshore waters that usually ends up on the dinner table.

But sadly I've heard that that gar are not generally eaten. They are just fished because anglers don't like them and don't want them eating their gamefish.

Poor fishies...Its not their fault...Like the bullheads in a lake by my work, Sbuse and I used to go fishing there all the time during our lunch break and I can't even count how many times I've picked bullheads out of the grass, revived them, and sent them on their way. Just cuz somebody don't wanna catch em... *shakes head*

They use clown knives to make fish meat balls. Not just in Asia, but here too. So anytime you go to an Asian restaurant and get fish meat balls with your noodles, it's probably clown knife meat.

People love their fried catfish too, and they also live in gross disgusting water feeding off of anything that they can fit in their mouths

Yeah, count me among the catfish lovers,it's my number one favorite fish to eat, fried or broiled.I like to think that the supermarket bought ones that find their way onto my plate are farm raised and are fed decent foods but the noodlers down in the south don't seem to care what the catfish eat.
