practicalfishkeeping magazine from great britain has an article that says you can put 3 to 4 clown knifefish in a 180g tank, the standard size of 72" by 24" by 24", is this true? i believe them because ive been on that forum before and they are sticklers for stocking. very helpful forum though. also, would it be possible to keep pictus cats in with them?

Its a matter of opinion but in my opinion is no. Clowns grow fast and will grow much larger than 24" if kept properly. Clowns are somewhat flexible but if a fish is longer than the width of the tank I think its a poor choice.

Could and should are two different things.

ok. i guess ill stick with a black ghost knife, or a bunch of african brown knifefish. the article says that you should keep one, or 3 or more, since they fight. but apparently if you have three or more they wont. not sure why.

the picking on eachother is spread out like in a shoal the same goes for alot of fish piranha being an example
