If im not mistaken i believe they can gain, lose, and alter spots as they grow. i had one whose spots started to strectch out a little as he grew.

yea those royals are abosotly beautiful.
is that one yours?
i understand that their habits and temperments are very similar to regular clown knives as well. do they get as big?

no they get to big for my tank but i want one whan i get a bigger tank got the pic in the seach on images google and yes they get as big iv seen them at full size in persone there really nice

i have had mine from like 4inch and he is now 11in and i have only had him for about 5months. his spots streched and on of em split in 2 but other than that his spots grew with him

ya there so sweet ill get one when i get a new tank

i have seen adults wit little tiny spots

and some adults with huge spots and plenty of them

all depends

none of my three knives really gain any more spots. although it's true that as they grow some, not all will stretch and turn in to two spots. but their patterns are genetics. i have one clown that i thought started to gain more spots but i've read that their spots were there to begin with it was just smaller than the rest of their visible spots. would be nice to hear from someone who has a different take on it. :)
