Clown Loach Question..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea see i was debating on a few more maby 3-5 or maybe a few more depending on the size to add to the school of 4 i have as of now, just wanted input prior to doin so. i tend to appreciate the input rather then ask for it and ignore like others.

yea i wish i was able to go ahead and drop them in my 125, but its a big pain in my local area trying to find a monster tank to upgrade into. most of the "huge" or "monster" tanks for sale on avg are 55, 75, & maybe if im lucky another 125.. i know they are out there just gotta wait it out so i can move the pbass and re setup my 125. i plan on a big school of atleast 20-30 clown loaches buy then along with a few other randoms like maybe moving my congo tetras with them and so.forth..well anywho im ramblin so keep the info coming

.....to which I'll add I had no problem growing out healthy active CL's at year round temps of 81-82F. BN's do fine at that temp, I just preferred not to keep any with my shoal of CL's. (it was a 125 species only tank)

82 is great, but I see some people keep them like 76-78 and they just don't seem to do very well (I'm sure there are exceptions...). IMO 125 gallon is a perfect tank for clown loaches.

ok so this posting kind of got lost in the back of my fish brained mind... to update things, i completely redid the whole layout on my 55, and well my CL's love it.. i took out their two hidding caves, rearranged the rocks and driftwood and moved a few plants. they still have hidding spots, and still hide, but for the most part i see them all day off and on. its more open layout wise and seems the other fish like it as well.. thankyou for the advice and input guys

if you give clown loaches good enough hiding places they will stay in them for 80 percent of the day
i used to have a clown loach and and he always stayed in a giant rock and would only come out when i turned the lights off
