Clown loaches with a pike?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I pulled my clown loach out of my sveni's mouth. Funny thing is 6 months later I have them together again and the pike won't go near the loach.

hmm... well the loaches are about 3x the size of the sveni now, but I'm getting worried about when he grows. And he's such a pig... I think he's even eating Colorbits now lol.

Thanks for the compliments on the planted tank, gotta love CO2 injection. It's a 6 foot, so if I DID put the pike in there, I could probably get another in there too...?

i had an 8 inch pike with 5 loaches and she dident try to eat them the smallest loach was 3inch all long as you keep him feed u should be fine

Yeah, Paully, put another pike in there. Make sure it is the same size as that little one, matter of fact, find two more pikes that are tiny, add them to the mix. With that dense planting, eye contact would be minimum so I bet they would all work, plus they will have a chance to grow together. Some Johanna would work, Xingu I (although this one may be rowdy), maybe some other Sax species, if you can find any Species Crenicichla Saxatilis, jump on those, or Frenata......both very nice looking

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. 3 pikes, and maybe my Severum and some catfish, would be pretty awesome. All the community residents moved into the 75g.

Leads to the question of where to get rarer species (mail order??), but that probably warrants a new thread.

Update on my little guy... still in the 75G, a bit bigger (terrible picture):

Nice! I'm already regretting not picking up a sveni when i had a couple chances. I have a bellycrawler and i love the little guy. When i get my 100+ gallon tank this summer i'm def. going to add a sveni to the mix.

yeah he's cool! :) When I clean the tank or move decorations around, all the other fish hide but he's right out watching me.

A little bland in the colour department, but hopefully he'll darken up a bit as he grows.
