Alright, finally broke down and bought some clown loaches. The owner cut me a break and gave them to me for $9 a piece instead of $10. I looked everywhere and that was the cheapest I could find.

That's why I don't have any loaches. They're not worth it to me. I can get w/c cichlids cheaper.

Different places charge diff prices. I got like 18 one inch clown loaches for $55 from my vendor. I have no patience waiting for them to grow so i bought like 5 giant 6-7 inchers for $88 each. Took a bite on my wallet. Been looking at lfs, prices went up crazy

To my knowledge, they are being commercially bred with hormones, but the majority are still wild caught. They do grow slowly and wholesalers typically have a good amount of losses on newly imported fish. Other than that, it's supply and demand I think.
