Here are pics of one of my overflow boxes on my tank that is still not set up. Egg crate grating behind the slots. overflow1.jpg

Glad there are two overflow boxes, as it is a little easier to climb in and out of the tank between the overflow boxes (instead of going over the overflows).

Your tank is one of my favorites for the size :-)

I have one on the side of my 6x2.5, I have a toothed Weir and wish I went toothless. Tank is 3 years old with 0 issues to date.

Why is a toothless weir better? That's 3 people in this post that like toothless weir better--why?

Careful there! I'm easily swayed!!!

Then you're in trouble my friend, these guys will sway you into a 1000g tank before long, haha. We've gone from 8x2 to 8x30 to 8x48! You shouldn't have let it out the bag that you've put an extra wide door in your man cave!

I know! I know!

I've already had the tape measure out to figure how much larger I can go.

Peer pressure will get you every time!

When i was looking to increase flow from tank to internal overflow I concluded that no teethe essentially helps increase the flow rate to box, increase surface skimming were two key benefits (I ended up keeping what I had and just drilling equally aligned holes below the teeth as increasing flow was my goal and it would look better than trying to route lower teeth or removing teeth on the weir that's already in the tank...but indigress)
