Is it alright to put a coconut in a fishtank??? What if I broke it, drained it, and ripped the fleshy part out? and I still have only half the shell to put in with a small opening for fish?? Will this mess up my fishtank??

THat soudns even better!! coconuts just got more attractive!! Maybe i'll try some one dayI've been using raw coconut shells and husk for years with no boiling before putting them in my tanks. I use a 2" to 3" hole saw to make caves out of them, pull all the milk and flesh out, put in a large stone to weigh them down, and drop them in the tanks. My BN and medusa plecs chew everything up on the coconut. They seem to really enjoy the bit of "hair-like" husk I leave on top since that's always the 1st to disappear. The cats will even breed inside the shells. Although, I've never seen them lay eggs on the shell. They lay their eggs on the agate stones I use to weigh the shells down.
