On a side note, it sounds like some of you guys think you can only get the herp through sex or sexual contact. You can get it from someone touching their coldsore, wiping their hand on a towel and then you touching the same towel and touching your lip. You can get it from sharing drinks with someone who has one, touching the same doorknob, all sorts of fun ways to get it.
My doctor told me that 1/4 of the population is a carrier of the virus, just a lot don't show symptoms. I have no idea how i got it, i've had it since i was a kid.

Cold sores are type 2, I get them after I get sick, and have been getting them all my life, there mostly genetic. i use abreva

Cold sores are most definitely not type 2. And is not due to genetics.

if we are talking about the same thing, [ small crack in the crease of your lip ]
carmex stops them and heals them fast.
you can buy carmex for 2 dollars at 7-11,,
on the other hand most people ive noticed with cold-sores have red blotches on the lips in different places
maybe they should have tried carmex!

to those interested here's a update....... after first sign of outbreak i went a got some L-Lysine...... alcohol and novitra..... it scabbed up in less than a day and now is healing...... whoohoo fastest outbreak ever......

Over the counter meds that work is L-lysine. Take 1000mg during an outbreak and 500mg prior or as a preventative. L-lysine can be found in the vitamine/supplement section.

Yup!! L-lysine is from what I hear the best and most natural way of treating .. And usually works in a few days and after a few weeks of using it regularly i hear you don't get any re offending sores

I work at a suppliment warhouse and there are a few people that were once plagued by this and no longer have the problem visually or non visually And They swear by L-lysine
