Just got a new used tank! It's an 80 gallon bowfront and I want to water test it. I would like to test it in the garage instead of in the house. The problem is it's very cold this time of year. I'm afraid the tank will be very cold and when I add water the temperature difference might crack it. Suggestions?

It should be fine just put cold water in the tank and then when you bring it back in let is sit for a while b4 setting it up in the house. Wait about 3-4 days so small leaks have a chance to surface

Dont even take the chance, Just do it in the lowest part of the house possible so if it breaks it wont leak through the floor.

Anyways, whatever you decide, goodluck.

Will just cold tap water be cold enough?

Highs around here have been in the 20s. Now I know it is a little warmer in the garage.

I agree I did this a few years ago when it was cold out. Just use cold water and I would suggest putting a powerhead to in to keep the water moving so it doesnt start to freeze.

The tank is heavy the the less I move it the better. I'm terrified of breaking it.

use the hose to fill it up
lol

You dont use the hose when its that cold!
exactly

I think I will put a bucket of water in the garage to see if it freezes.
