cray fish

Won't the crayfish harass the goldfish? I've seen crayfish raise their pinchers and try to catch fish.

i think they will be good.
i'm assuming that the koi are in a pond...if so....just add rocks to the bottom of the pond so that the crayfish can hide....and your kois won't get hassled by the crayfish.

the upside o feeding koi pellets: my goldfish have great color and growth

the downside: its 10x messier than any flake food ive ever fed them

any cleaners that can thrive in the cooler goldfish tank? i know snails can, as i kept snails and goldies for quite sometime, however they dont do good at eating the food right away.

I think he said he was feeding the goldfish koi pellets and that he was keeping them in a tank.

had to read it once or twice....but yeah....and rocks to the bottom, add crayfish, get a bigger filter.

cories are not the best option for a coldwater tank, better to go with weather loaches or some other coldwater fish. Either way, if it is a tank and not a pond, you don't need a cleanup crew, just more water changes

Now that I've thought about it, weather/dojo loaches would work too. They are pretty cool looking also. Even though you do frequent water changes, your going to still need a clean-up crew to take care of the food that sinks to the bottom. Otherwise, the food might still be on the bottom until you can siphon it out during the next water change. The Doctor.

You increase the number of water changes, that is the easy solution. You should not need a cleanup crew...that is a sign of needing to either feed less or change the food you're giving them.

its not a matter of water quality, its a matter of the pond pellets being extremely soft and breaking up easily. my water, filter and feeding schedule are fine, was marely looking for something to add to the tank to eat the mess they make. i dont NEED clean-ups, i WANT them.

im paying decent $$ for the pellets, and they make a mess. might as well let another few fish thrive on the high quality crap my goldies get, rather than water my lawn with it when i do WC's every few days. dont want to change foods either, since i see a big difference with my fish.
