Collapsible soft Caves

Zoopoxy made by Polygem is rather spendy in large quantities.

On another note, do you have any concerns about the filter foam possibly damaging the slime coats of your fish?

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. I'm thinking if I weighed the insides with smooth stones they could rest on those. Now egg laying could get dicey...you've given me something to think about.

I f worse comes to worse I can still use their cookie jar canisters...or maybe some of those glass hurricane sleeves for candles open at both ends.

I've picked up this project again. Just finished doing the overspray with Krylon Fusion in 2 colors. Will post up pics later after everything dries. The final step will be siliconing some jadestone on the sides and river stone inside on the bottoms (for weight).

Will Krylon allow the foam to remain flexible? I'm concerned that the paint will crack every time you squeeze or flex the foam cylinder.

Interested to see what you've come up with. Been trying to find diy ways to add more hides in some of my tanks and this looks really promising!

It should be ok. I only needed the lightest of overspray to coat the foam cells. Plus the original green color of the foam still shows giving essentially a three tone effect with just two colors.

Pics were delayed because extra paint was needed.
I may use epoxy for the larger stones, not sure if silicone is strong enough for that. Someone can chime in. Squeeze tube silicone to be used.
