Collapsible soft Caves

Views of the cave forms. I had to do 3 oversprays because the fiber absorbs the paint. The first coat almost disappeared when it dried. The three tone effect created by using only 2 paint colors gives a more natural looking effect. The original green of the pads shows through.
I may do the edges with the larger river rock. If they're too big I'll use the jadestones. The river rock will be glued inside on the bottoms for weight. I'm really pleased with the overall mossy effect.

Filter padding can also be used as a background using this technique of overspray and gravel. Not sure a vertical application would support heavier rock unless you go 2 to 3 inches thick.

Your caves look great!!

I’ve successfully used JB Water Weld…it’s made for use with potable water so it’s pretty safe and you can use it underwater. The stuff dried rock hard. That Seachem stuff is probably the same

These are small projects for caves I worked on the last two days. The first one is a green reptile cave that was a bit plain. Fish never stayed in it so I drilled holes in the back to keep it from looking too dark. Wanted to drill another opening for a door but the circle saw couldn't cut through so this was a compromise. I added some rock and brush pieces for interest.

The log deco is actually two halves glued together. They're being held in place with rubber bands while curing. The bands will be snipped once completely set. I added stones along the edges where the halves meet and then put on some plant snips. I'll be getting back to working the soft caves soon.

FINWIN FINWIN any pix of the mossy cave underwater yet? Im thinking of copying your idea/methodology with my fire eels im more worried about their spine snagging on a filter foss inside they do like to move their decor around sometimes ??i think thats a great solution for them so they dont slam stuff on other fish and hurt them

I haven't finished with those yet. Still have to glue the rock and gravel. I'm hoping its enough weight for them to say at the bottom. If not I can just add loose rock inside.
