H. Carpintis don't fade lol. Only RT will fade like faders lol. Sexing cichlids is pretty easy, just vent em.

I didn't mean fade as in fade like red devils or rt, but I was talking about little black areas spread throughout his body. Will those disappear? He looks like he has black splotches in sporadic areas. It really looks like it comes off.

Well it was in a tank with a jardini and 2 8" oscars, so it's safe to say he was getting beat on. His fins were tattered. I'm going with the injury option =D We'll see in the next few weeks how he progresses.

Very nice! I have those two same fish. They're my only short bodies. You'll love the Texas when it colors up trust! And my females black spots come and go mostly with stress.

yeah the pearls are starting to pop and s/he's a very active now. they are bigtime diggers huh? s/he keeps shoveling gravel around. Just xcited to actually have a texas without having to import it here.

I'm liking him. He looks a little washed out though. Maybe it's the camera or the light in the room. Mine looks like that when it gets stressed. He goes back and forth with his coloring all day I wished he'd just stay the blueish green color that I love about him.
