Color change for my female black arowana!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well these Black arowana have been with me for over 5yrs now and still going strong. I originally started with 4 and these 2 paired up so I sold the other ones. According to their jaw sizes and behavior I have no doubt at all that they are male and female. I wish I could devote a tank to this pair as I believe they would definitely breed for me. The bottom has 5 rays at this time so there is no way it would happen unless I had the aros by themselves. According to a quick hold up of the tape measure they appear to be between 28" to 30". The kelberi in the picture are about 7.5" for reference. So here is a quick update for the black arowana enthusiasts. Sorry I have to use a flash as I have 2 other tanks in the room that causes too many reflections off the glass.

Very nice! Sorry to read about the wipe out you had before; I've been through it myself. Any reason why you didn't replace the Fire eel? Will they go with rays?

Love them! Hopefully my 2 incher can reach that potential!

Awesome! You should get another tank/pond for them, it will be worth it when they breed!!
Thanks. No room and too much invested in my stingrays to make room for just the aros.

Thanks, I tried a small fire eel a couple months back and my stingrays ate it. Not really interested in the eels anymore as I had a big tire track eel that was killing fish and biting fins.I sold other fish off thinking they were the culprits until I caught the eel in action. I sold the tire track eel and just recently tried the fire eel with no luck so I won't bother anymore.

Love them! Hopefully my 2 incher can reach that potential!
Thanks. Pretty hardy aros once they get past the small stage. The only thing to watch out for is they tend to be more nervous then silvers.

They look great! All your fish are very well taken care of. Healthy as can be.
Thanks Mike, It's my passion and hobby so I try to look after them the best I can. After all these years it's actually kind of turned into an obsession. LOL
