I got good results with Tetra prima (Diskus in the EU) and Hikari cichlid gold but by far the best of them all was NLS. Their activity levels increased too, when they were eating Hikari they seemed a bit lethargic in comparison.

Wow now I am stoked to pick up some NLS after these blazing reviews!! :D

hated nls, none of my fish will eat it(biggest waste of money on food i ever spent)had to go with hikari, have had great experience with it, as far as color enhancing(veggies bring out the blue and krill brings out the red)when i started feeding my fish romaine lettuce and peas, and freeze dried krill three time a week, their colors became insane. you can not substitute for certain nature ingredients. Just pick a pellet your fish will eat,and add a variety to therte diet and you will see a color difference,no matter what pellet you use. When it come down to it all pellets are pretty much the same(just worded different on the ingredient label)to make use think we are buying a superior brand. you can call starch by 8 different names but it is still starch bottom line.

i feed them all hikari, nls and freeze dried krill so hard to say really. Although my fish prefer the krill and hikari in taste over the nls...

Most carnivores LOVE hikari, but hikari seems to be nothing more than fish meal. NLS on the other hand is filled with much more quality ingredients including vegetables. Although NLS is not as easily accepted as hikari is by fish.

The discus folks mostly swear by Tetra Color Bits for red fish. I know several breeders that have tried all the popular options and swear by that for their reds.

I agree that you can't beat fresh food, even with NLS. Fresh veggies, frozen fish, shrimp, etc.
