The Land where Fish Rule!
So I picked up 2 columbian sharks yesterday,I know they do best in groups so Ill proabably pick up one or two more today. But I was wondering what temperature should they be kept at or optimally growth rate. And also at what point should I begin the brackish trasition cycle? They are proably 1.5 in right now, so at what size? Also when should I do the full marine trasition? Lastly, when i am making the brackish water I assume I can just use regualr aquarium salt, correct me if im wrong, but if so, at what point would I have to switch to the marine salt blend (the ones that come in a bucket). Just out of curiousity what would be the effects if i satarted takeing them to brackish right now? I have heard they dont go into brackish until they are around 4 in but thats kinda what im asking. Thanks And I have a bunch of very big tanks so dont worry about that, whatever they need they will be taken care of. From what I have seen they only get 13in ish?? right?

I have seen one about 16" before. The ones I had, I started the brackish transition when they were about 3.5 or 4". With these fish, you have to go as close to natural as possible because they get very sensitive. So if you start the transition now, it will be much too early. They don't start the move from the freshwater river to the brackish deltas until they are around 4"

Yes after doing so more research I found out they actually have the ability to grow of 20 in, but sadly becuase of peoples lack of care of them virtually none will reach that size. I have a a new challenge now hehe. Anyone else on the transition of this species or the brackish to full marine transition?

Really that low?! I dont know to much about the fishes natural habitat, but when I was growning out channel catfish I kept the at 86 and with my p bass even a little higher than that. I guess it would make sense though becuase of its closesness to the cool ocean waters....

Mid 70's is safe.

I would agree, maybe even 79ish. I've never kept any of tanks higher than 79, and all of my fish have done well, including when I had 3 columbian sharks.
