ok well i guess that the fish i want is not going to work. so what would you guys recommend. i really like oscar and JD. would these be able to thrive together. and if so what other fish could i have. i would like to have more than 2 fish in a 75gallon tank

Those 2 would probably by alright together but go big on the filtration. (There is no too big)

IMO A 75 gallon tank is too small for a pair of Oscars. You can probably get away with a pair of JDs or a pair of Gts. Start with about 6 juvies and work and watch closely until you get a pair. Trade off the other fish.

A smaller species of pleco would be a good tankmate and some smaller tough species of catfish, maybe Raphael Cats (Platydoras costatus).

Install a lot of quality filtration and do your water changes. For a large cichlid tank, I would suggest you be recycling 300 GPH or more. Furnish the tank with some large clay pots (dremmel tool is your friend), some sturdy rock work, and drift wood.

Good luck...

the oscer will outgrow and eat your firemouths most likely but the others should work out or buy big firemouths and a little oscer lol

3-firemouth
1-oscar
1-JD
1-green terror

if so could i add more or is that the limit.

No! No! No! You might be able to get 2 of the big boys in there when full grown, but not all of them. Maybe in a 125, but not a 75.

ok so how about 2 JD and and 3 firemouth. and for filtration im getting the xp3

You realy seem to want those firemouts bad! IMO 2 JD and 1 Firemouth (try 2 if you want but not 3).

I have an XP3 on an 80 gal SA tank and it does an awesome job.

I think you should think of a school of neon tetras. hehe

Odd question, maybe a bit stupid, but I've been wander if an oscar and a bunch of some type of fast breeder with lots of cover. think they could breed fast enouph to keep a head of the oscar? in something 75 to 125 gal?
