Small update. Everything still looks good with the male swordtail. White patch even healing up nicely. Hopefully it is indeed just an injury, still going to monitor closely.
Just some more pics that I really liked.
In the pic below you can really see how his caudal fin trailers are coming along
And one of the swordtails. I was trying to just get a picture to look at the wound more closely but I actually really liked the pic. This is how he looks today. I think his head looks a little better.
The wound that was on the swordtail is now almost unnoticeable. Just looks like slightly darker orange spot. Very happy to see how quickly it healed up.
Some more photos from the last couple days. It’s nice having such a photogenic little fish. He basically just goes to the front and center of the tank and poses for the camera .
Male swordtail pretty much all healed up now too.
I really love how he looks when his head is down or when he is looking down like this. Convicts already kind of resemble a mini Amph but I think from this angle you really see it.
So it looks like I have another swordtail turning male, there's now 3 males and 2 females. The pic directly below was from today and the one below that one, where I circled the swordtail, was from Jan 17th. So some noticeable "sword" growth in the past 10 days. I've been considering getting a group of some less aggressive livebearers in the future and swapping them out. Maybe platties. There's no visible damage on any of the males but there's still quite a bit of aggression that I'm really not comfortable with.
Exactly 8 months since I got this little fella. He’s probably put on around an inch in the 8 month time span, and is quite a bit bulkier. I’m curious how much growing he has left to do. It seems to me like he's still growing little by little.
The most important thing to me though is just how outgoing and interactive he’s become, especially since being in the 75. I feel like it might be a bit surprising to some (not to most of the members here on MFK of course) that I've dedicated a 75 to a lone convict, but I love it. He utilizes every inch of this tank, it very cool to see.
