Con Solo the Convict

So I’m gonna give the live plants another go. I bought some golden pothos. EDC0D441-7011-46E8-AC19-EDBD9FD76EF0.jpegI’m planning on putting them in the back of the tank behind the lids. I think I can place them where the leaves will stay dry and the roots will be able to drop down into the back of the tank. I think it will make for a pretty cool affect, looking like the fake pothos in the tank are growing out of the back. And as small bonus, everything I read suggests they’re excellent nitrate removers.

A thread I made awhile back for keeping pothos submerged. I haven't used the real stuff in some time because my fish kept eating/stripping it but I don't think you'll have that problem with Solo. Submerged pothos has to be conditioned first and there will be some die back first. For submerging, vine pieces are better than pot plants. If you check the early pages of the "Tank Pics Updated" thread you will see pothos in the 225.

Another short vid. Looking for food as always. Something pretty funny that also really makes me happy. The 75 is in a separate room in the basement, we call it the "fish room" cause it has all the fishing stuff and also the tank. I've noticed he likes to stay on the left side of the tank and stalk me through the doorway of the fish room. This is exactly what Bruce, my carpintis, used to do. I swear he hears my footsteps coming down the steps and immediately goes on watch, either that or he just waits there.
Also, if you look really closely at his tail fin it looks like there are very small trailers coming in. The ones that some male cons get when they start hitting a decent size. Hard to see but they are there, hopefully they continue to grow.

DBA8B0FB-23D1-4707-B747-68FCF4ED0B41.jpeg Pic from a few days ago, probably one of my favorites too. I realized that maybe a week or two ago marked my first full year in this hobby, or at least full year keeping the cichlids. Made a few small mistakes, most likely gonna make some more, but I think I’ve learned A LOT so far. Still very very little though compared to some fellow members that have been doing this longer than I’ve been alive. Going to continue to keep things as simple as possible with this 75. I tend to dive head first into new obsessions, just have to resist! 😂

The little chunk has been extra outgoing these past few days, and even extra feisty during feedings. Tried to see if he would react to my finger towards the end, but he pretty much just looked at it for a second and moved on lol. I suppose that's a good thing, definitely don't need him joining the swordtails in the hand nipping party every time I'm doing a water change.
