Concern about Petco and ID theft...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I chalked it up to a weird glitch. It was just odd that she was texting one number and the number that was showing up on my phone was my bfs number. Not even close to the same digits. Haha. So odd, but I’ve learned when it comes to electronics weird things happen all the time.

I’m happy to say my brother rejoined the family a couple years ago. It was out of the blue but most everyone was thrilled to have him back:) He is free spirited and a rolling stone. I just hope he will continue to stay in touch from now on.

I've had the texting thing happen too. Some lady would text me for weeks saying "Mom is pissed you didn't call her!" and all kinds of family messages. Then I got jokes saying "oh, you wanna ignore me?" I finally told her she had the wrong number, maybe area code too. And that I wouldn't respond to any more of her stuff. I think she figured it out and stopped.

Actually the guy's dad was pitchman...he wanted to assure me they weren't cranks and provided id! So then pops starts talking like I know his son, and how his son has changed, and so forth. I'm like WHOAH, wrong person! It was a hoot. Finally the son comes on and apologizes saying nope, he can tell I'm not the original. But we all chatted for a bit and talked about the city.

In my area women would give out phone numbers to guys who pestered them at clubs just to get rid of them. Sometimes that random number is yours!

Now the wildest call I got was a woman warning me to say away from her man. I told her she could have him, whoever the hell he was!

Most annoying call was a guy who kept dialing me every holiday, straight from Thanksgiving to christmas. I ended up getting call intercept (no longer available) to put an end to it. Sometimes he'd call fifteen times a day.
Whew, fifteen times a day.

I'm glad your family is together again. It's tough on some --maybe all family members when splinters happen.

The accounts are linked to you by a phone number, if someone else had that number at one point and registered, then they will still be attached when the number is given. There's 2 people on my number at PetSmart, me and someone else. I give them the number, they select my entry.

Interesting. Petco really needs to clean that up.

I used an old phone number at PetSmart for years after I changed numbers, who knows if someone else was assigned that number in the meantime. I only updated when they were revamping their system and they were re-registering people.
