I bought him to find out if my frog would eat live fish. My frog does not eat live fish. I've had this guppy two full years now and it's time I shared the truth. I have only changed that water three times. Once when I had tadpoles in there that grew out into frogs, once a few weeks after that on a whim and once more when I added the pothos and rearranged the substrate. A black light makes it evident that the water is loaded with substances like phosphates and other solids. But look at that guppy. Pretty as any. And from feeder stock, too. I only feed him about once a week.

The rest of my tanks get 50% weekly water changes religiously.

You have any secret critters?

Haha just the one?

I have a tarantula that I bought in middle school on a whim. It's still there; it will not die. I sometimes forget about her for months at a time, and then it's like, "Crap! I haven't fed her in months!" but she won't die.

I had a spider that I would find every morning on my bathroom sink to greet me. I named him Harry.

Maybe. Just a guess, though. They probably just went through too much. You know, ammonia laden holding tanks, being shipped from state to state, etc.

basically its like a mini half ecosystem the plants filter the water and remove amonia and other chemicals and the bacteria in the sub brakes the fish wast down :D

Yeah did some research and read that fancy guppies are inbred so much it all depends on how lucky you are on whether or not they survive
