this fish has survived 1 yr no food/waterchanges or a filter running! when I moved out during that time and thought I had cleared out all the fish... the darn thing is like 6-8yrs old or more. and doesn't look old an nasty either.. he just does his thing.. Now if he manages to survie the Aba Aba knife in the tank until he outgrows it.. My husband and I have agreed to let him have the 20gallon all to himself, He'd have earned it.

lol.. yeah I reckon he earned some buddies too if he survives this... granted I would move him but pretty sure the spiney eels in my other tanks would look at him 'n go "Worm! MINE!"
 
I witnessed a betta stored in a jar in a storage shed for 6 months with no food or water changes. Swear to jeebuz. Some fish seem to be able to live in extreme circumstances.
