No-brainer. Absolutely try it if at all possible. Have you read my thread on Odoe breeding in this forum? Sounds like an amazing opportunity to observe large fish parenting.

Go for it.

It was a very interesting read. I also noticed he started with three.

Correct. The female that spawned did not tolerate another female. Understandable from Nature's point of view. But: Not a problem you will have.

Having said that, the injured female barely survived.

So female is in the tank with the male. Some minor squabbling and the male showing his dominance. hopefully it is a quite night for the two of them.

So she is a little beat up and keeping to the right side of the tank. Now all the other fish are keeping to the left lol.

Good luck ... Keep us posted and inspired.

They seem to be adjusting to each other. She is allowed to move around the tank now and she even ate some shrimp for dinner. After her first piece the male wouldn't let her touch another. Will try to get some pictures up. The female is 9 inches and my male is 12 inches plus

Cool
Did you sex the the same way Bernd did when they bred (m skinny w/yellowish fins, f fuller)?

great question. I pretty much compared her to mine, so I could very well be wrong. Mine is very ornate with a very long flowing dorsal. This fish has some gold color but overal dull and a very normal drap dorsal fin. At the same size my male had more color and better fins. Hopefully I am right

I wish you luck ... Please post pics when you have a chance :)
