I'd love to get into breeding discus but the PH in my town is just way too high for em. A PH of 8.7-9 is honestly too high for most things I want. Some day tho some day lol.Oh my goodness, looks like discus might become an option in the future
Nope no buffers other then some drift wood in certain tanks. The PH in the drift wood tanks tends to hang out around 8-8.2, so not near as bad as the none drift wood tanks but I usually keep fish that like higher PH in those tanks. But yeah the PH I get does really limit me on what all I can keep, I'm just surprised that I can even keep angelfish nice and healthy lol.8.7-9!! That's like liquid rock. How do you keep anything in there? Do you use any ph buffers?
Some times, usually I have far better luck with local bred vrs shipped in. It atleast makes acclimation allot easier on the fish if it's bred locally. I also noticed the FH's that I have bred tend to take a bit more punishment then most that are shipped in but I suppose that to do with this whole area having extremely hard water and mine were bred in it while others were bred in softer water.Do you get your fish from local breeders so they are adapted to your water?
