im really confused on piranhas. i'ne been thinking about getting other fish but i want to learn more about them before i make a descision

it depends if you really want them and can take care of them sufficiently they can be very aggressive so tankmates are usually a no but if you think they would be the right fish for you and you could take good care of them then you should go for it. It also depends on wheter you want to shoal them or keep a solitary species.

ok thanks Romh45i. i think about it more

How about asking us some real questions...what do you want to know about them? There's pros and cons to every fish. Piranhas are no different but we can teach you anything you need to know about them and you can make a decision for yourself

if you are thinking about a solitary species of piranha you must understand that all the fish have different personalities some could chase your hand from outside the tank while could be terrified of it. some never even eat in front of you. as for a shoal of piranhas, it could look alot nicer and could even be abit more exciting overall its your choice though

like i would like a school of them. maybe 3 or 4. which species is best for this? and my tank temp tends to get between 81-84 at max. will this affect the piranhas?

red bellies are always available and in my oppinion the best starter piranha to reduce aggression between them you could lower the temp just abit and feed them well they will grow to be legit monsters and they will look sweet in your tank

only 3-4? How big of a tank do you have?

I'd recommend red bellies too if you wanted a shoal but you'd probably want to start at a 75 gallon or bigger tank.
