yeah...although it also seems to come and go. any thoughts? do the color of yours stabilize after a certain size?

Yeah, the color become more stable when the bichir reach certain size, though, there's still range depending on water condition, substrate color, or health. Actually, the tank had a worm issue, and I used anti-worm/anti-bacteria/salt on the tank for a while. During that stage, their color got lighter. And, they regained color few weeks after the treatment was finished.
 
Damn between you and CDM I am really thinking about kicking out all the non-bichirs and lowering the lighting... Hmm might be time for one of those 36" wide tanks......

infblue what do you feed them all of your bichirs are insanely thick and thanks cuase now i will definitly get the congi might buy both if he still has them.

i feed them usual stuff, massivore delite/carnivore pellets, silversides, tilapia, smelt, have also fed market shrimps and frozen krills before. i think it has more to do with the individual's appetite.
