Consideration's when choosing short body fish.

My sb Texas arrived, no doa.
They all look so different, some are very bp looking and some are not. Some already have major pearls, on some the pearls are just coming in. Some have full body flowerlines and some have a more typical GT pattern. While I can't be certain I have a feeling more than a few will be faders.

There are five possible faders, they have that funny coppery brown young faders have right before they darken up and then peel.

1/3 of them (give or take) have full body flowerlines. They almost resemble a killin.

At some point I will introduce killin blood. The fry I have now X Escondido X killin, heavy on the Escondido blood. I'm hoping for super nice typical Green Texas markings with just a hint of the other species patterns/colors, all wrapped up in a nicely formed sb.

Sorry no pics yet, I loaned my camera out, when it comes back I'll try to get pics. And I'll definitely upload some videos to youtube.

I dont see many pearls on them, can you get more pics? Hopefully you can pull some nice ones out and they are fertile, or perhaps come across a very nice male tex to cross them with to pull that texas through more of course with the short body. Good luck, please keep us posted, hope some fade! :)

Your gonna have to let me in on the trick of embedding Chris, lol!
Those are without a doubt texas parrots. How were all of them?

One has a cloudy eye, unsure as to the reason. I'm using salt and melafix atm trying to clear it up. Other than that no injuries or problems.

Just moved them into a 40 breeder, will try to get some pics once they settle in. As for the pearling, they have about the same as my first batch (only got 4 that time) did when they came in and this is what the first batch grew into....

I still have what I believe to be a male from that group.

If there are any fertility problems they can be remedied simply by crossing an Escondido male to one of the sb tex females.

good plan! so with that group of four, you only have one left? what happend to the others they are very nice as well!
