I know getto factor first hand , I have a million dollar friend and he has a
20 gal tank  No bull shi^ .
And I Keep a 40 gal on a dreeser and do not care .

I never did but every old time breeder Ive talked to,and some old books Ive read say it was a common practice in the 40s-60s lots of breeders used them for cheap growout tanks.

Yep, and a pond (sort of). All outside. It was 100g tank(?) and a 47g sump. One had a window and 2 were buried hald in the ground.

I'm glad to hear it's already worked for someone else already; that sounds like it was a large refrigerator like I had wanted to use.
