I have mixed feelings. One, yes, people should not be flaming/ridiculing him FOR THE SAKE OF RIDICULE. HOWEVER! What he is doing with his tank IS WRONG. He has waaay to small of a tank for the fish he is putting in. Yes, they look good. SO what? If he leaves them in, they eventually won't look good anymore. They will start dying, get HITH, fin rot. And then what? We say its b/c he lost a parent? Regardless, if he purchased a fish, he is responsible for the life and wellbeing of the fish. So he is inexperienced? Then listen to the people who are experienced! When everyone is saying, "hey, you have too many fish in there" and he takes that info, and purchases more fish with it, we are supposed to say, aw, its b/c he lost a parent?

Everyone starts off with overcrowding. He will learn as he goes. Believe me. I started out with a 1 gallon full of 6 or so fan tail goldfish. You learn as you go.
