im thinking about breeding convicts...

but using them as feeders for my larger fish...is this a good idea?

If you have 3 female Con's and two male con's then I can guarantee you spawning will occur....Convicts breed like rabbit's...and they happen to be one of my fav fish.

they dont get pregnant they lay eggs and the male fertalizes them, they will be clear at first and then if they change color then you know your gonna have some babies! i just got a pair there tiny i had a 6 inch male once and a 2 inch female he was VERY aggressive he would bite the **** out of my hand wen i would try to clean the alge off the side of the tank tehres a video of him in my sig if your curious. but good luck!

hi I have these fish and the constantly making babies but what I have noticed and read on the female will make the eggs and the male will carry them in his mouth until they are born,,so the male actually does all the work and the male has the red on his side,,on mine

thats not what my convicts do. we have two breeding pairs in one tank and none of them carry the eggs around in the mouth... yours are strange. also the females ahve the orange bellys on convicts. Maybe you have something else?
