Convict question

They can breed. But IMO they probably wont until the male is almost the same size if not larger. That being said, they are convicts - so anything is possible.

A female convict will reach around 4" so proportionately they can breed at 1/4 of their maximum size. This rule works kind of similar in other cichlids. For instance - my female GT bred at around 2" and females can reach around 8". As to why? I am not entirely sure. But they are the rabbits of the cichlid world.

cause their full grown size is much smaller and they don't live as long as the larger cichlids so they mature faster.

I agree with Grant. Es possible... but not probable...

Is your female gt still 2" right now? Can you post a pic please? Its not that i dont belive you but just curious as to see how big the female gt is.

You will have to tilt your head but there you are. She is probably 3" now. But at the time she was 2" the male is in the picture at the top too.

hahah^^ they are green terrors and they arnt the OP fish thats y they dont look like convicts lol but yes convicts will breed at a small size but the only problem is that if the female doesnt want to breed she can kill the male because she is larger same way vise versa
