well i went in to day and it was on sale at 2$..and its so bright! red and blue with bars of red in the upper fins(pics are bad sorry )
i have not kept cichlids for some time now..and never these guys(only angels)
someone girl was saying how cute it was..and that it would fit in there bowl..so i had to save it!..what you guys think? and sex?
it looks like a birth defect to me.
Its in a 35 gallon tank with a Female betta and a fancy goldfish , the goldfish is going to a new home in the AM.

Good looking female Con. The tail is a defect, but I personally like tailless fish. (Some of them)

Definitely a female and a good looking one at that. I honestly doubt any fish from Petco or Petsmart will be intentionally tailless, yours is just defected. But thats what make her unique.

thank you!
yes thats what i thought..^_^ and she is unique ..cute little thing..im guessing a 35 is fine for her?..and would it ok to get her a male once shes settled in?

The tank shes in been up for a few years and runs with a HOB 45 gallon,
large log and Anubis in it for deco.

Yes a 35 is fine, what else is in the tank? yeah give here a week or two and then you can get a male, get one that her size or slightly bigger.

ATM she has a med size fancy gold fish, that is being re homed tomorrow, and a female betta that can be moved to my guppy tank if need be. so she will be alone after tomorrow.

this was sort of an impulse buy to keep her from going to a bowl...figured a night with a goldie and a nice log to hide in was better ^_^

I know what you mean, I went to Walmart every Sunday for a month and they always had the same blood parrot. One day I said screw it and brought him home.

Poor girl. Tail was definatly hacked off at a young age. Ive seen plenty of natural defects and this is not a natural one.
She must have had a very tramatizing youth, but at least she can be happy now. She deserves a good home. Careful not to house her with anything too aggressive or nippy because shes not going to be as quick.

Im excited...this is my first convict!
