Just get rid of the male... problem solved as far as the extreme agression goes. If you want to add a pleco to the mix, find something like a bristle nose plec that won't exceed 6" in length.

great info. I suggested getting rid of the other cons because if you got rid of 1 female, he'd just move on to the next, and the next. If you got rid of the male though, you should have no problems.

There's a problem with adding another type of cichlid after removing the male con though. Female cons are little whores when it comes to mating they don't care what it is. If you put another male of any kind of species, there's a chance they'll then mate too.

Yeah I am not sure what I am going to as of yet.
If I do keep the pair this does limit the space for the other fish.
Especially if you only have another aggressive cichlid on the other side claiming territory over there.

What I would love in this tank is maybe some kribs or rams but I am realising this is probably not possible Or is it?

If anyone knows whether or not I could sneak in a ram or some kribs that would be good to know.

50G
-------------
4 x Convicts
6 x Tiger Barbs (going to raise this number)

u could add maybe 1 gold saum or a pair of fire mouths possibly 1 JD (by this i am not saying all of these just either 1 or the pair). this should be ok adding the GS or JD because cons are pretty hardy aslong as u keep up on the water changes and have adequit filtration.

I had a quick read.
Gold Saums & Jack Dempsey get around 10" would that be ok with a 50g tank?
Firemouths aren't bad but how many 6" fish can I keep in the 50g?

Jack Dempsey is a beautiful fish but would it really be ok with convicts in a 50G?
Jack's get pretty big. (and I hear Jacks also like to put up a good fight I would hate to have casualties)
